The Narrative

The narrative will be non -linear. Out of the blue will begin with Kate sitting down when her best friend Lily comes over showing her a drink she took from Kitty. Kate becomes angry both argue and fall out.
Kate then goes to lesson and on her way she sees Caroline opens a door in the corridor that she comes to. Both say hello and Kate continues to her lesson. Kate waits outside the classroom and checks her phone which says that it's 10:50 (but her phone's time is wrong). Kate looks through the classroom door window and sees a watch on the table closest to the door. Kate looks around and then goes inside and puts on the watch. The watch says that its 11:00 and so Kate changes it to 10:50 and then disappears.

Kate finds herself by the door again and looks confused when Caroline opens it again and says hello to her. Kate says hello back and then changes the time of her watch back with an extra minute, so this time when she re appears at the door she opens it and see Caroline leaving the classroom (where the watch was). Caroline sees Kate coming towards her and then looks through the classroom window as if she's checking something. She then leaves the door and walks towards Kate, both Kate and Caroline say hello to one another as they walk past each other. Kate looks through the window to see what Caroline was checking but sees nothing there.

Then the montage begins:

1. Kate is sat on a park bench with an empty pack of crisp when she puts it down moves the time back and she, the empty crisp packet and her bag disappear. Kate and her bag reappear and then Kate takes the crisp now full out of her bag and opens it happily.

2. Kate is heading to the college exit, but when she puts her hand in her bag for her ID card she can't find it, so she turns back time disappearing. Kate appears in the classroom, picks up her ID card that she'd left by accident and leaves the room.

3. Kate is sat outside and takes her phone out of her pocket. A reminder comes up on the screen informing Kate that her project is due today. Kate turns back time to the evening the day before disappearing. Kate re appears with her now done project in her hand, whilst she reads it Caroline appears on the bench next to her and Kate jumps when she sees her. Caroline warns Kate about her watch and that she's to use it wisely, but Kate doesn't listen but instead time travels one year into the future to get away from her.

_

Kate finds herself in a park, she turns around and sees Lily dead on the bench. Kate tries to wake Lily up, but she doesn't. Kate then sees and article on the bench next to Lily and reads it. The article says that a local girl has been missing for a year and the girl is Kate. Kate then disappears. Kate appears on a bench before Caroline. Kate is confused and tells Caroline how she isn't responsible for her transportation and Caroline says that she made it happened. Kate then finds out that Caroline is a witch and sees what happened to Lily.

What happened to Lily:

Lily takes the drink from Kitty and shows Kate and both fall out. Lily's then seen making Phone calls enquiring where Kate is as she's been missing from college. Lily's then seen sitting where they argued reading the article Caroline gave to Kate about how she's been missing for one year and then Kitty comes over and gives her a drink telling her that it's make her feel better. Lily takes the drink and then in the park she drinks it and dies.

Kate back to the present blames herself and then realises that Caroline left the watch for her in the classroom. Caroline tells her that she can fix what has happened and then transports her back to Lily and disappears. Kate then turns back her watch a lot.

Kate finds herself at the sitting area where she fell out with Lily in the beginning and then Lily comes over as she did before and this time Kate listens to her and so hears the whole story. Lily then reminds Kate of their lesson and gets up and starts to walk. Kate takes leaves the drink on the bench and thanks Caroline before joining Lily. Caroline appears, picks up the drink and makes it disappear. She then happily watches Kate and Lily walk to their lesson.

Mise-en-scene
The first location will be the front of the college to establish the setting. Next is a sitting area in the college where Kate and Lily talk and have their argument. Then there will be a corridor where Kate sees Caroline. Following this will be the classroom where Kate finds the watch. When Kate time travels she'll go back to the corridor and then the montage will begin.

The locations used for the montage will be the park where Kate travels back in time to eat her crisp again, then the entrance to college where Kate realises that she left her ID, the classroom where Kate forgot her ID card and then the sitting area where Kate and Lily argued where Kate time travels to complete her project and Caroline appears to her and warns her.

Then when Kate travels a year into the future she ends up in a park; firstly where she finds Lily and then where Caroline talks to her. When Kate sees what happened to Lily,Kitty will be sat on a bench outside in college when Lily takes the drink from her. When Lily leaves Kate a voice message she's sat on a bench outside and then when she talks to her parents she's stood in a college corridor. Then Lily's in the park were she dies and Kate sees her.

At the end Kate finds herself back at the sitting area where Out of the blue starts after she turns back time a lot.

The main prop in Out of the blue will be the watch that Kate was given by Caroline. It's white with a blue face and is the device that Kate will use to time travel. There will also be a drink that Lily shows Kate in the begging and then a different drink she drinks at the end, an empty crisp packet Kate has and then the full one when she goes into the future, her ID card she forgets, a newspaper article about Kate going missing for one year and Kate's phone and bag.

We will use natural light as our short film takes place during the day.
Characters will wear normal clothes as they are college students and when at the park Caroline will wear a witch hat revealing that she's a witch to both Kate and the audience.

Cinematography
Out of the blue will begin with a long shot of  the college establish the college setting. It will also be used when Kate is at the park with her crisps to establish this setting too.

Extreme close ups, Close ups and Medium Close Up will be used to show characters facial expressions and emphasis an objects importance. There will be medium close ups of Kate and Lily's faces when they talk to each other at the start. Close ups will be used to show the time on Kate's phone, of the watch left for her on the table and at times extreme close ups will show the watch face when she changes the time of it.

There will be Point of view shots too. When Kate looks through the door window a point of view shot will show that she's sees the watch inside and the last point of view shot in Out of the blue will be from Caroline's point of view as she watches Kate and Lily walk to their lesson as friends.

Camera movements that will be used will be a pan, two examples are when walks over to the door and looks through the window and when Kate is in the classroom and walk over to the watch on the table a pan will follow her then as well.

Sound
There will be dialogue in the beginning when Kate and Lily fall out, then when Kate and Caroline say hello to one another three times. When Caroline appears to Kate and both talk, at the park where both continue to talk and when Kate sees what happened to Lily.

A soundtrack will play during the montage and then fade out to the end of the montage. Then there will be a soundtrack when Kate appears at the Park.
Sound effects will also be used when Kate disappears and reappears as she time travels, magical sound effects when the watch is being used to emphasis that it's magical and when Kate time travel back to the start their will be a parallel sound to communicate that she is going back in time.

Editing
Out of the blue will have a montage sequence to give the audience an idea of how much Kate uses the watch and always uses it selfishly. There will also be edits to make it look as though characters have appeared, when Kate appears and the doorway and disappeared, when Kate time travels into the future and so disappears.

When Kate sees what happened to Lily what she sees will be in black and white to emphasise that it is of the past, Caroline leaving the watch will be in black and white too for the same reason.
